Saturday classes

As you will know, we are currently enjoying great temporary facilities at MCSDA in Chaddesden. This gym is required for alternative uses on Saturday, October 28 and Saturday November 4, meaning that unfortunately our Saturday classes have had to be cancelled on these dates.

We understand this isn’t ideal and appreciate your continued support during this time.

The great news is that the situation is only temporary and we are due to be moving into our new home very soon. It will be a fantastic new facility and Kru Sai has been sharing some of these plans on our Facebook page so check them out for a taste of what is to come very soon.

Once again, the Studio 2000 team appreciates your loyalty and it will certainly be rewarded with our brand new gym!

New details of temporary location and timetable

While we continue to work to get our new gym in Castleward ready, we are now running an amended timetable out of a temporary facility in Derby city centre, near Pentagon Island.

This facility, Modern Combatives & Self Defence Academy, is a fully equipped martial arts centre which is more suited to our needs. We have had to update our timetable due to the slots which are available at this centre but have endeavoured to keep options open for students. This means students of all levels will be training and learning from each other, true Thai style.

Our timetable has been updated with full details of the location and the Junior and Adult classes available so please look through it.

We appreciate the last few weeks have been disruptive and Sai and the team greatly appreciate and value your loyalty during this time. It will certainly be rewarded when we move into our new premises.

Thank you once again and we look forward to seeing at MCSDA, Unit 4b Masons Place Business Park, Nottingham Road, Derby, DE21 6AQ.

Important timetable and venue changes

Due to unforeseen circumstances affecting our Spa Lane premises, the gym is closed. We are currently making alternative arrangements which may mean a revised class timetable and temporary venue while we wait to move into our new home in Castleward.

Unfortunately, this means tonight’s classes have been cancelled. We will keep you posted about new arrangements. If you have a private session scheduled with Kru Sai, he will be in touch to make alternative arrangements. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Grading opportunities for everyone in July

This month is a bumper one for gradings, with opportunities for everyone, regardless of level, to push themselves onwards and upwards.

The gradings begin on Wednesday, July 26 at 8pm with Adult gradings for levels one to four.

On Friday, July 28 there will be gradings for the Advanced Juniors during their class at 5pm. That same evening, from 8pm, there will be an Advanced Adult seminar after the class for all those grade 5 and above, putting students through their paces mentally and physically to help them towards their goals, whether that be fighting or instructing.

And we will finish the gradings on Saturday, July 29 at 9.45am with grades one to four for our Juniors.

These gradings are a chance for pupils to reflect on their own progress, identify areas for improvement and set new targets for where they would like their Muay Thai training to take them.

If you have any questions, please speak to Kru Sai or one of the instructors.

May gradings for beginners

Our students are all showing brilliant progress in their Muay Thai and that’s one of the reasons we hold gradings – so you can see how far you’ve come and where you can continue to improve.

There will grading opportunities this month for both adult and junior beginners. The junior beginner grading session will take place on Saturday, May 13 at 9.45am. For adult beginners it will be on Wednesday, May 24 from 8pm.

If you have any questions about the gradings, please ask Kru Sai or one of the instructors.

Easter opening times

We will be open as usual on Saturday (April 15) but will be closed on Good Friday (April 14) and Bank Holiday Monday (April 17).

Our Saturday session will ensure you get a good workout before any chocolate treats on Easter Sunday!

Gradings announced

The dates of our next gradings have been confirmed. Adult gradings, all levels, will take place on Wednesday, 22 February from 8pm. For Juniors, gradings (all levels) will take place at 9.45am on Saturday, February 25.

If you have any questions, please see Kru Sai.

Revised timetable for December

Studio 2000 is preparing for an extremely exciting next few weeks and this will mean some temporary changes to our timetable.

Due to our next Muay Thai show at the iPro Stadium on Sunday, December 4, there will be no Open Gym on Saturday, December 3 as the weigh-ins will be taking place then.

Throughout December, we will also be running a revised class timetable due to work on our new gym (opening soon!)

This means there will be no daytime classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. In addition, our Wednesday and Friday sparring classes will instead be advanced classes.

The gym will also be closing on December 17 for the festive period. This is slightly earlier than we would usually close for Christmas but it is so we can get the new gym ready for you all to kick start your 2017 in the best possible way!

Any questions, just speak to Sai.

December gradings dates confirmed

The next dates for adult and junior gradings have been set. Adults taking grades 1 to 3 will be able to do so on Friday, December 2 at 8pm. The junior gradings will take place on Saturday, December 3 at 9.45am.

Please remember to make sure your licence is up to date and ask the instructors if you have any questions.

Junior and adult grading dates

Grading sessions for juniors and adult members will be held during September and October.

On Saturday, September 24, junior members will be able to sit Grades between 1 and 4 from 9.30am. Adult members will get the opportunity to take Grades 1 to 4 on Wednesday, September 28 at 8pm.

For those adults who have already achieved their Grade 4 or above, there will be an Advanced Grading Seminar on Saturday, October 15 from 12noon. It will be essential for all fighters to attend this session.

As always, gradings offer the ideal opportunity to evaluate your progress through the Muay Thai syllabus at Studio 2000, identify strengths and highlight areas for improvement.

If you have any questions about grading, please speak to Sai or one of the instructors.
